Kravica Waterfalls sits roughly 40 kilometres south of Mostar, close to Ljubuški and the village of Studenci. The drive normally takes 35–45 minutes, which makes it one of the easiest nature trips to add to a stay in Mostar.

The Trebižat River spreads into a broad semicircle of cascades across the limestone landscape. Spring usually brings more water; summer brings warmer days and the possibility of swimming when conditions permit. You will see both “Kravica” and “Kravice” online. How to travel from Mostar to Kravica

Private tour

This is the simplest option if you want pickup at your accommodation, a fixed return and enough time at the water without joining a large coach. The Kravica Waterfalls & Winery private tour combines the falls with a hosted tasting at a family winery. Transport and tasting are included; the waterfall ticket and restaurant meals are separate.

Rental car

Driving gives you control over the day and makes it easy to continue toward Ljubuški, Međugorje, Počitelj or a winery. Set the official Kravica visitor entrance as your destination rather than following an unmarked road toward the river. Parking is beside the visitor entrance, followed by a descending path to the falls.

Taxi

Agree on the return before leaving Mostar. Ask whether waiting time is included; if not, fix a collection time and an exact meeting point.

Bus and taxi

There is no dependable direct public bus from central Mostar to the entrance. A budget route is a bus to Ljubuški or Čapljina followed by a taxi. Check the same-day return timetable before leaving. For two or more travellers, compare the total cost and time with a private tour.

When is the best time to visit?

July and August bring the hottest weather and the most visitors. An early start gives you cooler temperatures and more space near the water. May and June often bring greener surroundings and stronger cascades. September can offer swimming weather with a calmer feel.

Official hours are 07:00–17:00 in January, February, November and December; 07:00–18:00 in March and April; 07:00–20:00 in May; 07:00–22:00 from June through September; and 07:00–19:00 in October.

Can you swim at Kravica Waterfalls?

Swimming is possible during the summer when water levels, weather and park rules allow it. The park states that visitors swim at their own risk. The water can feel cold even on a hot afternoon. Enter gradually and stay away from strong currents, slippery rocks and the base of the cascades.

You do not need to swim for the visit to work. There are viewpoints, short paths and places to sit with the full curve of the falls in front of you.

What should you bring?

Bring swimwear, a towel, dry clothes, shoes with grip, sun protection, drinking water and a waterproof pouch for your phone. Carry convertible marks or a payment card. Do not leave valuables unattended while swimming.

Allow at least 90 minutes for a walk and photographs. If you plan to swim, two to three hours gives the day a better rhythm.

Kravica works as a half-day trip, but the route becomes more interesting when the second stop belongs to the same landscape.
